The United States is ramping up diplomatic, economic, and military pressure on Lebanon in an effort to force the government to disarm Hezbollah, withdraw the group from border areas, and normalize relations with Israel. As Washington ties international aid to political concessions, it is also threatening renewed conflict and internal instability in a bid to remove Hezbollah from Lebanon’s political landscape.
